Adrian Lam reveals his thoughts on using the loan market
Wigan Warriors head coach Adrian Lam has said he is considering sending some of his young stars on loan.
Super League clubs face a conundrum this season as their young stars face a serious lack of playing time.
The reserve rank has been canceled for the season as the academy games for the Under-19s do not begin until May. This leaves players facing the prospect of no regular action for an extended period of time.
Two Warriors have already left on loan, with Chris Hankinson and Amir Bourouh moving to championship clubs London Broncos and Halifax Panthers respectively.
But Lam hasn’t ruled out other departures on loan to ensure his players develop and are fit.
“I think it’s part of the week-to-week process to be honest,” he said.
“We understand that there is no reserve note for 2021, players need to be loaned out and we are working aggressively on it.
“The championship is operational, so it’s a matter of feeling it as you go. weeks. “
The Warriors are back in pre-season training after their training facility closed due to a Covid-19 outbreak. While this is a downside, Lam said it wouldn’t have a major impact on their preparation.
“It has always been a challenge every day, every week,” he said.
“Staying away was tough but it’s always good to come back. We were really happy with what we had done before, the break was a step back but we still feel like we have time. what is needed here is difficult time, but we will stay together and move on to the other side. “
