After Governor Murphy’s Planned Parenthood Approval, Ciattarelli’s dismal record on women’s reproductive rights has never been clearer

Republican candidate backs Christie-era cuts to funding for women’s health care, would veto reproductive freedom law

TRENTON, NJ – In the wake of New Jersey Planned Parenthood Action Fund approved for Governor Phil Murphy, it has never been clearer how damaging Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli would be to the cause of women’s reproductive freedom. Ciattarelli’s regressive views and nefarious policies would instantly return New Jersey to the Christie era, when painful cuts were made to women’s health services in the name of extreme conservative politics. It would come at an incredibly precarious time, with the United States Supreme Court soon set to challenge the landmark Roe v. Wade that could threaten reproductive rights nationwide.

“While Governor Murphy has been an ally and champion of women’s reproductive rights, Jack Ciattarelli would be a disaster that would immediately roll our state back into a dark era where women lacked safe and affordable access to health care Said the NJDSC. Vice-President Peg Schaffer. “From supporting Chris Christie’s cruel cuts in funding for women’s health care to the promise of veto laws that would protect and extend reproductive freedom, Jack Ciattarelli would set women back years – that’s why we we will rally and re-elect Governor Murphy in November.

Some of MP Ciattatarelli’s attacks on women’s reproductive rights include:

  • Brag about plans to force cuts in Christie-era funding to women’s health care and family planning services [NJ Spotlight, 5/19/17];

  • I promised to sign a 20 week abortion ban [Ciattarelli for Governor – Press Release, 5/18/21];

  • Pledged to veto legislation that codifies freedom of reproduction as a matter of state law [Ciattarelli for Governor – Press Release, 5/18/21];

  • Donald Trump’s greatest legacy has been the appointment of all Conservative judges to the federal bench, including the Supreme Court. [Virtual Town Hall, 5/18/21]; and

  • Supports Parental Notification Act Ruled Unconstitutional By New Jersey Supreme Court [Ciattarelli for Governor – Jack’s Plan: Rights & Freedoms, 5/19/21].
