Donald Trump held a rally in Washington, Michigan over the weekend. Although still unbalanced, it is clear that Trumpists are motivated and will support him in 2024. During his speech, the former president argued for a return to Afghanistan to recover weapons and other resources under the control of the Taliban. This is the same person who took credit for ending the war in Afghanistan, even though Joe Biden ended it.

Despite the apparent contradiction, the crowd erupted in applause, and apparently they were ready for the US military to return to the Middle East. Later, Trump attacked athletes who knelt during the national anthem, as if it had ever been such a big issue in the country. He even added a religious component saying, “Americans kneel before God and God alone.” Even though Trump is not a religious man, his Christian supporters are just fooling themselves into thinking he is, and that could help propel him to victory like it did in 2016.
