Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation approves over $ 5.3 million in grants

CEDAR RAPIDS – The Board of Directors of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation recently approved $ 5.3 million in grants to 198 nonprofit organizations. The awards include organizational support grants and program support grants; Grants from the Disaster Recovery Fund and the COVID-19 Disaster Response Fund; as well as distributions from scholarship funds and designated donor-advised agencies.
The Community Foundation brings together private philanthropies and impactful nonprofits to support a healthy and vibrant Linn County. In 2020, the Community Foundation distributed over $ 13.9 million in grants.
The Community Foundation’s competitive grant programs are supported by donations from donors who have tasked the Community Foundation with providing grants that meet the needs and opportunities of the evolving community. The funds support efforts related to innovation, sustaining success and building capacity through a competitive grant process. During this grant cycle, the Community Foundation received over $ 1.2 million in competitive grant applications and was able to fund $ 683,339 (or 46% of the amount requested).
