On Friday, Grant McCarty, director of policy and public affairs for Bitcoin Magazine, announced the launch of three policy efforts aimed at strengthening bitcoin public policy at the Bitcoin 22 conference in Miami. McCarty revealed the Bitcoin Advocacy Project (BAP), the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), and an independent spending-only policy committee called the Financial Freedom PAC.

A new bitcoin-themed Super PAC has been launched to help “elect bitcoin champions.” According to Financial Freedom CAP A website featured by Bitcoin Magazine’s Grant McCarty, the new Super PAC supports “candidates who seek to defend and enforce the following rights of bitcoin owners in the United States.” Lately, bureaucrats have unveiled a number of regulatory policies regarding digital currencies and many fear that strict crypto regulation could stifle technological innovation.

Basically, a Super PAC is an independent political committee that solicits donations to strengthen independent political activity and help frame public policy. While Super PACs cannot donate directly to political candidates, the PAC can spend unlimited amounts of money to fight political candidates and legislation or to defend specific bureaucrats.

the Financial Freedom CAP explains that he supports four political candidates, including Republican Senate candidate from Ohio, Josh Mandel, Democratic House candidate from California, Aarika Rhodes, Democratic House candidate from Ohio, Matthew Diemer, and Arizona Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters. Businesses, unions, associations, and individuals can donate to the Financial Freedom PAC, but they cannot donate in US dollars. The organization’s website reveals: “Trust donations are not currently working. This is a feature, not a bug. Please donate bitcoins.

The bitcoin-centric Super PAC website adds:

The fight for bitcoin in the United States will be a marathon, not a sprint. True to bitcoin’s ethos, this organization will operate with a low-time preference, focusing entirely on high-impact spending. And denominating our balance sheet in bitcoin, anything we don’t spend gives us more buying power in the next election. It is the first political organization whose power will evolve with that of bitcoin.

In addition to the bitcoin-centric Super PAC, McCarty also revealed the Bitcoin Advocacy Project (BAP), and the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI). BAP launched a “Nakamoto grant” and awarded it to BPI as the institute released a white paper regarding “Bitcoin and national security.” The main objective of the BAP organization is to “cause an orange wave across Washington”.

“In addition, BAP supported the creation, development and funding of the Financial Freedom PAC – the first Bitcoin Super PAC which aims to elect Bitcoin champions and elect anti-Bitcoin politicians like Brad Sherman and Elizabeth Warren,” said said McCarty on Friday. “BAP pledged $100,000 to launch the Financial Freedom PAC and has secured another half million dollars in verbal commitments since the organization was filed.”
