The people of Uttarakhand have not forgotten who ordered the shooting of youths demanding a separate state in Rampur Tiraha: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress party on Friday and said the people of Uttarakhand had not forgotten who ordered the opening of fire on youths demanding statehood separated at Rampur Tiraha. While virtually addressing women, scheduled caste and six workers in Rudraprayag constituency, the Home Minister said: “When I came to Uttarakhand 5 years ago , I told the people of Devbhoomi that if the people give us a government with a full majority of Veerbhoomi, then we have a promise that we will do the job that has not been done in 70 years in five years.”
He said that for years the people of Uttarakhand struggled for statehood and suffered oppression from Congress. “Who can forget the incident of Rampur Tirahe, when Congress shot the youths of Uttarakhand who were demanding their rights? Congress never supported the establishment of the State of Uttarakhand. When the government of ‘Atal ji came, he created Uttarakhand and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing the job of running the state. We have delivered on all the promises we made five years ago.
He added that Chardham is the center of reverence for the whole country and the world in Uttarakhand. Development here is our priority, he added. “There will be no part of the country from which people will not come to Chardham. There will be no such end in the country, in whose safety the soldiers of Uttarakhand are not deployed,” he added.
He further stated that more than 700 fast-track courts have been formed for immediate justice for women. “For Muslim women whose husbands would leave them after marriage saying ‘Talaq, Talaq, Talaq’, Prime Minister Modi had the Triple Talaq law abolished…More than 700 fast-track courts have been formed for immediate justice for women” , Shah said.
Earlier in the day, Shah organized a door-to-door campaign in Rudraprayag. He also offered prayers at Baba Rudranath Temple in Rudraprayag. Polls to elect the 70 members of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly are scheduled for February 14. The counting of votes will take place on March 10. (ANI)
