Manila, July 20, 2022—On July 15, the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines and the Ayala Foundation Philippine Heritage Library launched “Liberation: War and Hope,” an exhibit illustrating the strength of the U.S.-Philippine alliance in reconstruction and recovery after World War II.

US Embassy in the Philippines (CDA) Acting Chargé d’Affaires Heather Variava joined Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan, Ayala Museum Senior Director Mariles Gustilo, and prominent historian and curator, Dr. Ricardo Jose, at the launch of the exhibit at the Ayala Museum in Makati City. . In his remarks, CDA Variava underscored the unbreakable bond formed between Filipinos and Americans during the war and reaffirmed the continued promise of the Filipino-American relationship as enduring friends, partners and allies.

This exhibition is the long-awaited opening exhibition of the Ayala Museum as it welcomes the public again after two years of renovation. Made possible by a grant from the United States Embassy awarded to the Philippine Heritage Library in 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, “Liberation: War and Hope” follows the path of the Philippines as they move toward a sense of normalcy, independence, and hope, after centuries of oppression, struggle, and rebuilding with American help in the aftermath of World War II.

“Liberation: War and Hope” is located at 2n/a floor gallery of the Ayala museum complex. The exhibition is free for all visitors and runs from July 15 to September 25.
